Amigos Meat is in the process of constructing a new $25 million facility. Constructions on the new 110,000 square foot facility began on April 2, 2018, and a ground breaking ceremony will take place on May 4, 2018. Construction is expected to be concluded by the beginning of January 2019. The Facility should be fully operational by the end of January 2019.
The new facility will enable Amigos Meat to expand its current meat distribution operation. Included in the construction of the new building will be an 11,000 square foot processing area for meat cutting, and portion control. The company;s newest distribution center will allow Amigos Meat Chicago to increase its storage by more than 75%.
“The Processing area will be built for meat cutting, processing and portion controlling. Since distribution is all we’ve ever done, here in Chicago, processing will open up entirely new possibilities for the future. The company will be able to diversify, and add to the bottom line.” said Max Hurtado president and chief executive officer of Amigos Meat.
Amigos Meat provides a full line of protein products including beef, pork, poultry, lamb, seafood and cheese items. Amigos Meat serves a wide array of food service account, further processors and retail customers, with distribution centers in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Huston, TX; Dallas, TX; and Phoenix, AZ.
